Beanie Babies, Beanie Buddies, & Ty Trading Cards: We started collecting Ty products in March of 1997 when they were first listed in the "White's Guide to Collecting Figures" The day I saw them listed in the Price Guide, I went down to the Hallmark store and bought 3. I bought Nip for my Mom, Bessie for my Grandma (Her name is Bessie) & Flash for a friend of my Mom (She collects Dolphins) Little did I know that those 3 Beanie Babies would spawn a collection of 100's! She now has just about every Beanie Baby released since March of 1997.
We did not plan to collect the Beanie Buddies but when we were buying them for our friend Ginger, we just got hooked on them.
Collecting the Ty Trading cards was only natural since I have been collecting cards for close to 20 years. It was fun collecting the first series cards because they were fairly easy to find and it was easy to find them at discounted prices. We bought close to 40 boxes of the Series 1 cards. We did fairly well with them but didn’t get some of the more valuable insert cards. We did get one gold card, it was an Original 9 Chocolate there were only 100 made.
